'De Hulppaal' is a concept I designed to bring lonely elderly people (who are living in a retirement home) together. In addition I created a showreel which would explain the concept to the end users.

The number of people above the age of 60 who are living alone in a retirement home is increasing steadily each year. Among these people the feeling of loneliness is also increasing. Family might come over once in a while, but during the day they haven't much interaction with others.
There's also less and less money for the care-taking of these elderly, which means they will have to wait longer for help with small chores around the house. On the other hand there are also a lot of elderly still able and willing to help others out with their chores. If only we could bring these people together! Hmmm...

The concept is simple. A person who needs a small chore done leaves a message on 'De Hulppaal', like: "Need help changing a lightbulb". Another person looking for something to do then sees the message and can choose to respond and help out.
What happens is the chore gets done (without needing to wait for personnel from the Retirement home, which by the way also saves them money) and the two 'strangers' meet and can get to know each other if they please. That's a win-win-win situation.
